Sesam Self Storage is a digital challenger in a conservative industry. It all started when entrepreneur Rickard Pålsson needed storage space, and found the process of renting it cumbersome, bureaucratic – and very analogue. So what better way to make things easier than through digital solutions? Rickard teamed up with logistics specialist Lars Adgård and Midroc Properties and as their digitalisation partner, Sesam chose Reeinvent.
Reeinvent will implement and integrate several different systems in order to create a consistent and smooth experience for Sesam’s customers. The digital systems will handle contracts, bookings, payments and access to the premises via digital keys.
“To create a fully digitalised solution in a traditional line of business, you need a knowledgeable partner. Our team has plenty of competence when it comes to building a company, and lots of experience within logistics and real estate. But we need help with the digital solutions. Right from the start, Reeinvent has been, and remains, a committed and proactive partner in helping us realise our vision,” says Rickard Pålsson.
Our collaboration with Sesam started in fall 2019. Back then, we carried out a number of Design Thinking workshops to create a common vision of the targets and goals. This resulted in a prototype to evaluate the technical possibilities, and a UX prototype to validate the user flows. With the help from these prototypes, we were able to take decisions on the next steps – such as setting up a team with full responsibility for software product development. This team is composed of members from Reeinvent’s site in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Hercegovina, and Malmö, Sweden. The close cooperation with the Sesam stakeholders has been inspiring for the team and a success factor for delivery.
“To succeed as a challenger, you need to be brave and truly believe that your idea is solid. The Sesam Self Storage founders have shown courage and determination. They are convinced digitalisation is the way to go. We’re thrilled to get the possibility to help them realise their vision of a fully digitalised self-storage company,” says our CEO Henrik Sällman.
Sesam Self Storage’s first facility is scheduled to open in Helsingborg later this year. The long-term goal is to open up in 15 different locations across Sweden.
